Good day people, it would be great if someone could help me with ideas. I am a Marine Engineer and I have been working for a British company for the past 10 years. I normally work onboard ship for 5 to 6 months and take a vacation of around 4 months. I have never filed IT returns before (as I maintain my NRI days), I do not have any earnings in India. Very recently I got a post to my home address from Income Tax Department and the letter says " return of income u/s 139(1) of the I.T. act - Non Furnishing of return of income for the A.Ys 2016 - 2017 and 2017 - 2018." It also says that if there is a earning in India which is above 2,50,000 rupees then returns to be filed. The last date for filing is 31st March to save yourself from consequences. Should I start filing Nil returns? I am even ready to send the exact letter which I received from IT department via watsapp if someone could give me the contact details. I am very much confused and any help regarding the above is highly appreciable. Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,

I have GST registration in Uttar Pradesh. I want to import a construction material at Nhava Sheva Port, Maharashtra and supply it to a customer in Pune. A clearing and forwarding agent will clear the goods at the port on my behalf and transport it to my customer for an agreed amount. I will pay the IGST at the port on the value of the goods. I want to charge my customer 2 components separately which is cost of goods and delivery charges. I want to add my profit margin on the cost of the goods and collect GST on that from my customer. However I want to charge my customers a proportional amount separately without additional GST for the charge paid by me to the clearing and forwarding agent. Is this correct and allowed to invoice the customer is this way or not.
Place of supply is important and GST will apply. You can recover and invoice with the statute apllied on it.
CA Raghavendra Raghuvanshi 14 Mar 2018charges paid to clearing and forwarding agent is also part of cost of goods delivery charges means freight paid for delivery of goods then you show seprately...
