Life insurance policy. premium 2 lakhs, sum assurred 20 lakhs. in 7th year i am unable to pay the premium and it is converted to a paid up policy with reduced assured sum of 12 lakhs. i surrender the policy after this and TDS is deducted saying assurred sum of 12 lakhs is less than 10 times the premium value. but while I paid the premium the assurred sum was 10 times the premium and in the 7th year i did not pay any premium. so the assurred sum is always 10 times or more of the premium paid, hence, tax should not be deducted.
