I am buying a house where the construction is complete in FY 19-20. However I will be registering the property in FY 20-21. will I be able to claim home loan interest deduction for FY 19-20 with a completion certificate from the builder?

Replies (1)

CA Naman Maloo       12 Mar 2020

As per section 24 it speaks about completion of construction and hence if construction is completed in 19-20 the interest before it would be available in 5 installment and after that it will be available every year.

At the time of filing return of income you are not required to explain the source it is only required if your case comes under scrutiny.
