Hi, I suffered a loss of 10 lakhs by selling my 7 years old house property. I want to understand, how can I set off this loss. Can I set this off against salary or long-term MF capital gains?

CA Roomi Gupta       16 Feb 2023

Long-term capital loss will only be adjusted towards long-term capital gains. However, a short-term capital loss can be set off against both long-term capital gains and short-term capital gain. For more professional help reach us @www.tarunguptaca.com or call at 9216216819

CA Rahul Dwivedi       24 Feb 2023

Dear Akash,

Is there a way to file an income tax return and claim a refund for AY 22-23?

Replies (1)

CA Roomi Gupta       15 Feb 2023

TDS refund can be claimed by filing of ITR only. As 31st Dec, 22 is the last date to file belated return you can not claim the refund for AY 22-23. TDS can be carried forward and can be claimed in next year depends upon it nature and time. For professional assistance reach us @ www.tarunguptaca.com or call at 9216216819.

Hello,
My brother in law has home loan of 50 lakhs, if I give him 30 lakh as loan with much lower interest than bank so that he can prepay his loan to bank. So now he will be having 2 loans, 30 lakh from me and 20 lakh from bank.
Is this kind of arrange ment possible? Can we have a home loan agreement between 2 individuals? And home loan interest paid to me can be cosidered in income tax exception of section 24? Can he show interest paid to me and to the bank in ITR?
